Teacher Collaboration

BIO-INSPIRED TEXTILES

The Bio-Inspired Textiles (BIT) team is looking for teachers to help us create resources for you to use with your students key stage 1-4.

Deadline to register your interest

Midnight, 30 June 2021

Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and supported by Design and Technology Association (D&TA) project aims to introduce nature-inspired design to sustainable and circular textile practice. BIT takes an integrated approach that addresses the disconnect between biomimetic research and stakeholders from the textile and fashion communities.

HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?

We are looking for teachers to brainstorm, test and feedback in our development of Bio-Inspired Textile resources to use with your students. We are interested in collaborating with textile, design, science and any other related subject teachers.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

  • Brainstorming session (July 2021)

  • Testing Resources (Autumn 2021)

  • Feedback Session (Winter 2021)

The brainstorming session will take place online and is an opportunity for you to tell us what you need from the resources so that they can be tailored to your requirements.

Testing the resources will be part of a Bio-Inspired Textiles competition with specific categories for each key stage. This is an opportunity to use the resources and test them with your students.

The feedback session is designed for you to let us know what worked, what didn't and how we can improve.
